Shot Is Not the Answer!
The winter of 2003-2004 may go down in history as one of the worst flu seasons of the Century. There are many contributing factors. One is a flu shot that protects against A/Panama flu strain but does not protect against A/Fujian flu. A/Fujian flu is the most common flu in the United States and Canada this year.
A, somewhat hidden from the public, factor is the new live virus vaccine (FLUMIST), which is squirted up the nose. It was licensed by the FDA in June 2003. It is recommended only for healthy people between the ages of 5 and 50. It should be avoided by pregnant women, those with asthma, chronic lung or heart disease; chronic underlying medical conditions such as diabetes or kidney disorders; immune suppression or immune system problems. It is not even safe for children or adolescents receiving aspirin therapy, anyone allergic to eggs; or a history of Guillain Barre syndrome.
The biggest danger of this new vaccine is that it
makes all those who take it contagious for three types of flu at the same time.
Those who use the mist are advised to avoid close contact with immune
compromised individuals for at least 21 days. I ask the question, “How can you
look at someone and know if their immune system is compromised?” The common
side effects of Flumist sound a lot like the symptoms of the flu. They include
runny nose, nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, headache, muscle aches, fever,
chills, and weakness. So you get a vaccination so you will not get the flu. You
will only get the flu symptoms. This does not sound good to me. Oh, one last
point about Flumist, it does not protect you from A/Fujian flu. To learn more

The third major contributor to our flu epidemic is our own compromised immune systems combined with stronger strains of flu. While we have been letting vaccinations and antibiotics do the work for us our immune systems have gotten weak. The bugs on the other hand have been fighting us, the antibiotics, and vaccines. They have become super bugs. The virus that causes A/Fujian flu is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. In layman’s terms that means it will hurt you and could kill you. Who says so? The World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
That’s the bad news. The good news is there is a way to beat the flu. The secret is a strong and educated immune system. The most commonly known methods of boosting the immune system are: A good diet, plenty of sleep, good attitude, exercise, stress free life and the right supplements. In a perfect world knowing this would be enough but our world is not perfect.
Few people feel they have the time or the means to do all that they know they should do.
There are parasites, fungi, viruses, mold, and bacteria that suppress the body’s defenses. Even many of the drugs and treatments of modern medicine suppress the immune system.
You must do three things to obtain and keep an effective immune system.
1. Educate it.
2. Build it.
3. Stimulate it.
There are only three ways to educate your body’s defense system. One is to get the disease, get sick, suffer, and survive unharmed. This option is effective but not fun. Sometimes people do everything but survive unharmed.
The second option is vaccinations. This option is not without a down side. Side effects of vaccinations are common and often include all the symptoms of the disease. There are those who claim autism is a side effect of the popular MMR vaccinations. Listed among the extremely rare complications of vaccinations is death. I am told you will never have this complication twice.
The best way to educate the immune system is the consumption of transfer factors. All higher animals produce transfer factors when they overcome a disease. That is why you seldom get the same disease twice. Your first introduction to transfer factors was or should have been your mother’s first milk called colostrum. Babies that do not get colostrum are 17 times more likely to have major health problems. The side effects of transfer factors are a better modulated immune system, a faster responding system, and a more aggressive defense system.
Finally, here is how I would beat the flu. Take transfer factors extracted from animals that have been exposed to the flu and either did not get sick or have fully recovered. The best source of a wide spectrum of transfer factors is colostrum from dairy cattle. The problem is extracting the transfer factors from the colostrum. I have been told it takes about two and one half quarts of colostrum to get one ounce of transfer factors. A maintenance amount to avoid the flu is two to three capsules a day. To rebuild a weak immune system or fight an ongoing flu is six to eight capsules a day. These transfer factors not only will educate your defense system they will increase the immune systems activity by about 103%. This is better than Noni, Aloe, or Echinacea that only give you a 15 to 45% boost.
If you need even a greater boost add Beta-Glucan from
Baker’s Yeast, Beta-Glucan from Oats, Cordyceps
sinensis, IP-6 (Inositol hexaphosphate), Maitake Mushroom extract, Mannans (from
Aloe Vera leaf), Shiitake Mushroom, Thymus Complex, and Zinc. Adding these
supplements to the transfer factors is a real plus. The combination raises the
immune activity level to 248%. I know of no product or combination of products
that even come close to this high degree of immune system support.
No! Taking transfer factors will not guarantee that you will not get the flu. But if you do get the flu it will not be as bad nor will it last as long as it otherwise would have.

No Time for Jetlag
Reset your internal clock faster by thinking only in the new time zone. On the day of travel eat only at the time that you would eat in the new time zone. Reset your watch to the new time when you board the airplane. Never think or talk about what time it is at home or in the time zone from which you just came. The sage advice is, “Live in the present.”
Drink lots of water or juice. I recommend a pint of water per hour in the air. I always drink a quart of water before I board the plane. Flight attendants know that the air in an airplane is very dry and guzzle water every chance they get. The dry air pulls moisture from your body. Alcohol and caffeine speed dehydration and should be avoided when flying.
Share this information with everyone who travels. It will make you friends and help build your business. Be a lion. Take care of your friends and family. Oh, and don’t waist time on jet lag.

Calcium, More Than Strong Bones
Writing an article on Calcium for strong bones would be a waste of time for anyone reading this article. What you may not know is that Calcium affects your blood pressure, mood, digestion, nerves and more. Those pesky leg cramps you get every night might be nothing more than a calcium deficiency. Osteoporosis is not the only problem associated with calcium deficiency. High blood pressure, insomnia, and heartburn are a few common ailments that can be caused by a shortage of Calcium. You knew all this? Did you know?
Some forms of Calcium do as much good as swallowing rocks. Kidney stones, bone spurs, and calcification of the arteries could be traced either to the wrong kind of Calcium, insufficient Calcium, or insufficient Magnesium with your Calcium.
It is a common belief that Calcium is Calcium. Calcium comes in many forms. Different parts of the body need different forms of Calcium. Some say drink milk for strong bones yet others say milk has a protein that blocks Calcium absorption after puberty. They point out that cows have strong bones but do not drink milk when mature. The form of Calcium found in great abundance in milk is Calcium lactate.
Clinical studies show that a blend works best. I prefer a blend of Calcium Chelate, Citrate, Carbonate, and Aspartate. Scholars agree that to get the most out of Calcium you must take it with Magnesium. Most holistic practioners agree there should be one part Magnesium for each part Calcium. Calcium can not be absorbed and used unless the body has Vitamin D, the sunshine vitamin. Zinc and Boron will also help absorption and utilization of Calcium.

How I Beat Multiple Sclerosis and Entered the Nutritional World.
As long as I can remember I have had a fascination with natural health, leadership, and success. However, it was not until March, of 1985 that it occurred to me that I could have them all.
I was very sickly as a child and caught everything that came to town. I had severe allergies, asthma, and recurring pneumonia. I was physically strong, I wrestled, played football, and participated in many extracurricular activities in school, but constant illness stopped me from achieving much of what I desired.
Both of my parents died of heart disease. My mother at 42, my father at 48. Because of my family history, I have always read anything I found about the heart or heart disease.
When I was 23, I started developing strange maladies. I would get weak suddenly when I was overheated. I would also suffer from double vision and my hands and arms would become numb.
I saw many doctors, but none of them could find any problems. Some said it was all in my head, others looking at my family history said it was an intermittent heart problem. It was later diagnosed as Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
One day in 1984, I happened on a book about chlorine and heart disease. It presented excellent documentation that chlorinated drinking water increases your chance of a heart attack. I started doing research on water filters. In my reading, I stumbled on an article titled "Bee Pollen The Miracle Food" it said bee pollen would help allergies. That got my attention so I read on. It went on to say bee pollen would help almost everything. In fact, it said bee pollen would do so much that I did not believe it, and almost didn't try it.
Lucky for me, I did try it. My allergies improved. My asthma went away. Best of all, all my strange maladies disappeared.
Then a (hopefully well meaning) doctor told me bee pollen may be good for other people, but it was poisoning my system. He said I should stop taking it. Like a dummy I did. My allergies came back, my asthma came back, and I had a disabling MS attack that left me unable to write, or walk. I had some use of my arms and legs, but no feeling.
I asked the doctor what my prognosis was. He said I would spend the rest of my life watching TV with someone else changing the channels.
This was not the life-style I had chosen. I decided I would walk no matter what. Later that day, when I was all alone, I forced myself to my feet and attempted to walk. My body moved forward but my feet did not. I tried to bring my arms forward to break my fall, but they did not move. I fell on my face. Strange as it seems, it was the best day of my life.
There, on the floor, somewhat dazed, I saw myself standing in front of huge audiences extolling the virtues of natural health, teaching about herbs, food supplements, success and leadership. At that point in time, in March 1985, my whole life changed forever.
I called my new doctor and asked if bee pollen could have made this condition worse. He told me no. I asked him if bee pollen could help this condition. He said he didn't know, but that it would not hurt. I hung up the telephone and crawled into the kitchen and had my wife give me a teaspoon of bee pollen. I sat there by the refrigerator for a couple of hours, then had her give me a second teaspoon of bee pollen. I waited another two hours and took a third teaspoon of bee pollen. (Three teaspoons is three times the amount recommended for most people.) Six hours later, I was walking again. I was not walking well, but I was walking. (I do not recommend anyone who has not previously taken bee pollen to start with three teaspoons of bee pollen in a day. That much bee pollen would detoxify the system to rapidly and could make the person very ill.)
From that day on, I have always taken at least three teaspoons of bee pollen a day. It was two weeks before I could write again. I was now ready to start my mission of telling the world about natural health, the power of God-given herbs, success, and leadership. It was time to share the knowledge that we can overcome or even use to our advantage any obstacles that come in our lives.
I began studying herbs in earnest. I listened to cassette tapes on success, leadership, management, neuro-linguistic programming, psychology, and herbs. I studied anything that dealt with natural health, leadership, or success. I also stepped up my reading schedule and started reading more books.
I knew that the only way I could ever generate enough money to accomplish the mission I had for myself was through multi-level marketing. It was and is today the only business that I am aware of where you can start with nothing and build a substantial income in a relatively short period of time. It is a business that requires very little starting inventory and has virtually no overhead.
I began working with a small company that had excellent bee pollen and a limited line of high quality nutritional products. In a little less than two and a half years, I became the first runner up in the company's annual Man of the Year contest. My financial status changed to receiving bigger checks than I had ever dreamed possible.
With the encouragement of many friends, my wife, and especially a very dear friend, Barbara Eve, I entered into a nutritional consultation practice in addition to my multi-level business. As this business grew, I became somewhat frustrated because I was spending so much time giving nutritional help to both people in my organization and to people in other organizations that I did not have time to recruit new people. I could see that if I did not change what I was doing, I could never reach the hundreds of thousands of people that I envisioned helping. I was not teaching enough people about natural healing, success and leadership.
I began marketing, cassette tapes on herbal products, multi-level marketing, and on the fine art of success.
In March of 1992, I was expressing some of my frustration to another friend, Linda Schwindt. She asked me why I didn't actively market my training. She told me that I had the knowledge, the skill, the talent, and I knew she was right. At that point, I started letting people know that I was available as a speaker to any quality company of any size.
